WHAT IS SURF LIFESAVING?
It's a section of Cork Water Safety that focuses on sea swimming, wave skills, beach running and surf boarding.
It's a fun and sporting activity that runs from June to September.
It is most suitable for those who have done lifesaving courses.
It is held every Saturday Morning on Inchydoney Beach from 10 am to 12 noon.
It is run by Irish Water Safety/ Cork Water Safety and is taught voluntarily by the instructors who teach in the pools during the winter months.
It costs €100 for the season and the money goes towards the up keep of equipment; surf boards etc.
You just need a wetsuit, swim hat and goggles to participate and it is open to all ages over 9 to 16.
You must be comfortable in deep sea water so a registration test is going to be held in Duneen Strand on Sunday May 25th at 11 am. Bring wetsuit that day!
